Pool Safety Covers

Our safety pool covers are custom manufactured to fit your pool. They are made out of "blocks" of material sized either 3 by 3 or 5 by 5 feet. Any cover must be stitched out of blocks of the same type, which means that possible widths and lengths for 3x3 blocks are 3, 6, 9, 12, 15 feet and so on. The possible dimensions for 5x5-block cover are 5, 10, 15, 20, etc. feet. 3 by 3 feet covers allow for finer sizing to better fit your pool.

However, in this case matching the exact size of your pool is not hugely important, because anchors can be placed closer or farther away from the edge of the pool to accomodate for the size of the cover. Safety covers made out of the smaller blocks are also heavier and can handle more overall load, but these qualities drive the cost of production up, so 3x3-block safety covers are more expensive.

Safety Cover Installation

The typical and easiest safety cover installation scenario is into a concrete deck. Anchor holes are drilled into the concrete and the anchors are simply installed into the holes (anchors are the “locks” which snap the safety cover in place). Then the cover can be simply stretched over the pool.

If the pool deck is made out of interlock, the installation becomes a little more complicated. Depending on the brick, different anchors will be required and as a rule of thumb, the smaller the brick the longer the anchor, which are more expensive. Installing concrete anchors into interlock is not recommended because it can cause the brick to be displaced and to even pop out of its location, which is the last thing you would want!

Additional factors can make the safety cover installation tricky. If there are any barriers around the perimeter of the pool, such as a waterfall leading straight to the pool, the installation of anchors can be significantly more difficult. Custom anchors will be required to be mounted into the waterfall itself or another form of installation will be sought. Barriers around the pool can necessitate a lot of additional labor, which is why we do not have a fixed price on safety cover installation, but rest assured - with over 15 years of experience, Pool Boys are prepared to tackle even the most challenging scenarios!

In order to provide you with a quote for safety cover installation, we need to know not only the dimensions of your pool and the type of cover you want (3x3 or 5x5 squares), but also the type of material your pool deck is made out of. If you have any obstacles connected to the pool, such as a waterfall or a nearby wall, we will need to inspect your pool area in-person. Request a quote today!
